Description
Turn your Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T into something that actually justifies the “turbo” badge. TheTomioka Racing TD06-20G Turbo Upgrade (TR-TG1001)is thelargest direct bolt-on turboavailable for the factory 2.0T manifold and downpipe flange.
Built around a TD06-20G wheel set withgenuine MHI journal bearing internals, this turbo is designed to supportup to 500 HPwith the right fuel system and tuning, while still retaining reasonable spool for a street-driven Genesis.
If you’ve outgrown the stock turbo and you’re tired of it falling on its face up top, this is the logical step before going to a full custom/rotated setup.
Why upgrade from the stock Genesis 2.0T turbo?
The factory Genesis Coupe 2.0T turbo is small. It’s fine for mild bolt-ons, but:
-
Itruns out of airflowquickly at higher RPM
-
Itheats the charge airand approaches overspeed if you push it harder
-
Power flattens out instead of pulling through the top of the rev range
The TD06-20G upgrade fixes that by giving you:
-
Much more compressor and turbine flow(52.5/68 mm compressor, 61/54 mm turbine)
-
Headroom forserious power gains(up to 500 HP with supporting mods and tune)
-
A turbo that still bolts to theOEM manifold, downpipe flange and oil/water connections
Bottom line: you get real top-end power and room to grow without fabricating an entirely new turbo system.
Key features & benefits
-
Largest stock-location bolt-on turbo for Genesis 2.0T
TD06-20G wheel set in a housing that uses theHyundai Genesis standard flange, so it drops onto the factory manifold location. -
Supports up to 500 HP
Turbo is rated forup to 500 HPwith proper fuelling, intercooling and ECU calibration – more than enough for a hard street car or track build. -
Genuine MHI journal bearing center section
Useshigh-quality MHI journal bearingsand components for durability and reliability under high boost, backed by a1-year warranty. -
Billet wastegate actuator, 0.8 bar base pressure
Comes with abillet internal wastegate actuatorset at0.8 bar / 11.76 psibase pressure to hold stable boost and maintain control at higher power levels. -
Complete bolt-on kit contents
Includes the turbocharger, actuator, oil & water lines, andgaskets/hardware kitso you’re not chasing fittings and crush washers during install. -
Street & track capable
Ideal forfast street cars, HPDE, time attack and dragwhere you want big top-end power without giving up the bolt-on convenience.
Vehicle fitment
Designed for the first-generationHyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T:
-
2010–2014 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T(North America) – direct bolt-on application listed by multiple distributors.
Some catalogs also list 2009–2014 coverage. If you’re on an early car or a non-US model, verify your turbo flange and oil/water line stylebefore ordering.
Turbo characteristics
From Tomioka Racing’s own data:
-
Bearing type:Journal
-
Flange type:Hyundai Genesis standard
-
Compressor wheel:
-
Inducer:52.5 mm
-
Exducer:68 mm
-
-
Turbine wheel:
-
Inducer:61 mm
-
Exducer:54 mm
-
-
Turbine housing:8 cm²
-
Wastegate actuator:0.8 bar / 11.76 psibase pressure
-
Maximum rated power:500 HP
These dimensions put the turbo firmly in “serious build” territory – big enough to move real air, but not so large that the car becomes a lag monster.
What’s included
Kit contents as supplied by Tomioka Racing:
-
1 x TD06-20G turbocharger assembly
-
1 x Billet internal wastegate actuator
-
Oil & water pipes/lines
-
Gaskets & hardware kit(gaskets, studs/bolts, etc.)
Everything is designed for thestock-location bolt-oninstall on a Genesis Coupe 2.0T.
Required supporting mods & tuning
This turbo will happily support power the stock fuel system and tunecannotsupport. Plan on at least:
-
ECU tune(mandatory – donotrun this turbo hard on a stock tune)
-
High-flow downpipe and exhaust
-
Upgraded intercooler(front-mount or high-efficiency core)
-
Intake systemsized for the airflow / MAF or MAP scaling
-
Fuel pump and injectorssized for your power and fuel (pump gas vs E85/mix)
-
Boost control solution(good 3-port EBCS if you’re going past actuator pressure)
For higher power, expect to also need:
-
Stronger clutch or upgraded automatic transmission tuning/components
-
Better cooling (radiator, oil cooler)if you track the car
If someone wants 500 HP without budget for supporting parts and tuning, this is the wrong part for them.
Installation notes
-
Direct bolt-on toOEM manifold and downpipe flangefor the Genesis Coupe 2.0T.
-
Professional installation is strongly recommended – this is not a “driveway in an hour” job.
-
Alwayspre-lube and primethe turbo (crank with fuel/ignition disabled) before first start.
-
Double-check oil feed, oil return and coolant connections for leaks before road-testing.
-
Get the cartuned immediatelyafter installation and avoid full boost pulls until the tune is finalized.
This turbo is sold foroff-road / competition usewhere emissions rules allow — make that clear in your store policies to match TR’s waiver.
Positioning vs other options
-
If the customer wantsstock-like power with a little bump, they don’t need this.
-
If they wanta dependable 350–450+ WHP street/track carand are willing to do fuel, exhaust, intercooler and tuning properly, this TD06-20G is in the right window.
-
If they want600+ HP, they should stop pretending they’re doing a “bolt-on” build and move to a bigger custom or rotated setup.
